Giftmas Edition

Giftmas is about presence more than presents. A pause, a curious question, or letting someone finish their story can be a powerful form of Gifting. Listening has a way of staying with people long after the moment passes. Also as winter settles in, give yourself permission to take care of your own energy as well. Rest and simplicity are part of the season.

Gifting Tip: The Power of the Pause

When someone shares something, resist the urge to reply quickly or relate it back to yourself. Let there be a short pause. A simple “tell me more” or “what was that like for you” can make people feel deeply heard.

Gifting Story

I found this short Youtube video of someone I recently had the pleasure of Gifting with and decided to include it in my story. A few weeks ago I was in need of putting some new strings on my ukulele. I could have done it myself but I decided to bring it to Ric at Hale Ukulele in San Diego with the intention of supporting a small business and also practicing my Gifting skills. I had a great conversation and learned a lot interesting things about him and his business (some of which he shares in this video from several years ago). Incidentally the ukulele has been a fun and easy instrument to learn and play since I picked it up a few years ago.

Giftmas Goal

Giftmas Goal: End a conversation with appreciation. Name something you genuinely enjoyed about the interaction.
