When we share genuine compliments and actively listen with curiosity, we allow others to feel acknowledged and seen. Gifting also increases mutual happiness, relieves stress, and strengthens communities. We created the G.I.F.T. Approach to help you easily remember the basics.
The G.I.F.T. Approach
Generosity
Share a compliment, acknowledgement, or your time. You are given 1,000 minutes every day so gift a few of them to make a difference.
Interest
Have curiosity in who a person is and what makes them unique. Everyone has something they can teach us.
Feeling
Seek to understand the experience of what others are sharing with questions like “what was that like?” or “how did that feel?”
Trust
Show empathy and sincerity for deeper connections.
